BYD Cambodia and Harmony Auto team up to officially launch the electric vehicle (EV) showrooms in the City Mall and the Chip Mong Mall 271 aimed at reducing the use of fuel vehicles that produce high carbon emissions to the environment while contributing to creating hundreds of job opportunities for local citizens.The launching ceremony yesterday was presided over by Kha Leng, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) and Peou Maly, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) along with representatives of BYD and Harmony Auto held at BYD City Mall Showroom in Phnom Penh.
Addressing the official ceremony, Leng congratulated the two companies for their joint effort and successfully launched two showrooms in Phnom Penh capital such as the BYD City Mall Showroom and the BYD Chip Mong Mall 271 Showroom, responding to the increasing users’ demand in the Kingdom.
The rapid development of the electric vehicle industry reflected the commitment of the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) to promoting the use of EVs which reduce carbon emissions in the environment as well as to attract international investors to build more factories, especially the car assembly manufacturer, she added.
The MoC Secretary of State underlined the fact that Cambodia and China have had good relations for many decades and this cooperation has led to an increase in trade volume between the two countries. She encouraged Chinese investors to explore more investment opportunities in the priority sectors as RGC are currently providing special incentive package and numerous supports.
Maly appreciated the companies for expanding their brands and related facilities in the Kingdom which is in line with RGC’s strategies to transform the country from the use of fuel vehicles to electric vehicles aimed at reducing greenhouse gases to the environment by 2050.
He expressed optimism that Harmony Auto and BYD Cambodia will continue to expand their projects to the point that they can build a car manufacturing and assembly plant in the Kingdom to meet user demand as well as contribute to creating job opportunities for the citizens.
Hank Li, Sales Manager of Newa Insurance (Cambodia) Plc told Khmer Times that the first sales and service of BYD Cambodia is located on National Road 6A and they tend to build more showrooms in the country as the company is the number one car sale company in the world.
