In the first nine months of 2023, the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway company earned about $ 27 million. Heang Sotheayuth, Director General of Technology and Public Relations and spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport also stated that from November 2022 to September 2023, the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway Company earned about 32 million US dollars. Mr Heang added that about 3 million vehicles were on the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway in the first nine months of 2023. He also said that there are about 250 traffic accidents (most of them minor) with thirty-three people were injured and four were killed. According to Mr Heang, this figure shows that on average, accidents occur less than once a day and, compared to other roads with the same heavy traffic, the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway is a safer and more time-saving route.
