The Royal Government of Cambodia has allocated nearly $23 million to build a bridge across the Russei Chrum River, located in Chhay Lok village, O’Som commune, Veal Veng district, Pursat province, considered to become the tallest bridge in the Kingdom. The bridge is constructed on National Road No.10, connecting Battambang and Pursat Provinces with Koh Kong Province. According to a video released by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) yesterday, the bridge is 90 metres high, 530 metres long and 10 metres wide. The bridge is designed according to Chinese highway standards and it is expected to be completed in May 2025. National Road 10 will have a total length of 197.33 kilometres, connecting Samlout-Veal Vong-Osom to Koh Kong. It is being built in accordance with Level 3 technical standards of China. The construction includes 23 bridges and one of them is going to be the tallest bridge built in Cambodia. The road, considered an artery for Cambodia’s economy, can enhance trade, investment, agriculture, industry and tourism, especially with neighbouring countries. Nearly 64 percent of the work is now completed. The construction of the road project started on March 9, 2020. The launching ceremony was presided over by Prime Minister. The road project is expected to cost a total of $188.38 million with financing from the Chinese Government, together with additional contributions from the Royal Government.
