Large-scale repair work will begin soon on the 13-kilometre-long stretch of Tuok Meas Po Tasui Road, separated from National Road 31, near the front of Kampot province’s Banteay Meas District Hall. People who use the one-way road have expressed great difficulty in commuting daily for years. Kampot provincial governor Mao Thunin yesterday said that all achievements can only happen with the clear participation of all relevant parties, especially the cooperation of the people who own and directly use the road. “Solidarity is the key to overcoming adversity as well as creating something to succeed. However, the repair and construction of the Tuok Meas Po Ta Sui Road, more than 13-kilometres long, will face some difficulties,” he said. Construction of the two-layer Double Bituminous Surface Treatment (DBST) pavement will begin after the rainy season but now the team will begin repairs with temporary large-scale red gravel. He also urged the Department of Rural Development to expedite the opening of construction sites as soon as possible. This road was contracted by the Ministry of Rural Development with the Korean company ILSUNG Construction Co LTD on August 25, to build a two-layer DBST paved road in the third phase of a rural road improvement project with funding from the South Korea.
