H.E Aun Pornmoniroth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, representing Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, on April 27, 2026, presided over the official inauguration of National Road No. 23, a section of 19.83 kilometers long in Chroy Takeo commune, passing through Loek Dek commune, Koh Thom district, to Peam Raing commune, Loek Dek district, Kandal province.
Deputy Prime Minister Aun Pornmoniroth also stated that the official inauguration of National Road 23 clearly reflects the high attention of the Royal Government in continuing to improve and strengthen the quality of physical infrastructure throughout the country to improve gradually, in line with the first phase of the pentagonal strategy, which considers roads as the second key priority after people as the first key priority.
H.E Aun Pornmoniroth stressed that the Royal Government in every mandate has always considered the development of infrastructure, roads and bridges as a key priority and an effective means of contributing to reducing poverty among the people.
He added that the inauguration of National Road 23 has contributed significantly to improving the livelihoods of people, especially those in Koh Thom and Loek Dek districts, by reducing travel time and facilitating the transportation of agricultural products and all kinds of goods to local markets and other regions.
This section of the road will also help promote economic and trade activities between Cambodia and Vietnam through key border crossings.
