Cambodia and Japan Monday reviewed progress on a master plan development project aimed at upgrading Sihanoukville Autonomous Port (PAS) into a regional logistics hub, with discussions focusing on priority actions and implementation challenges.
Koichi Miyake, President of the Overseas Coastal Area Development Institute of Japan (OCDI), led the Japanese delegation to meet Koy Sodany, Permanent Secretary of State of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT), in Phnom Penh on January 26.
The meeting brought together technical experts from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), along with MPWT senior officials and other relevant specialists.
According to an MPWT announcement, the discussion focused on preparations for a master plan development project aimed at transforming PAS into a regional port and logistics hub.
The session reviewed priority work and action plans, while also identifying solutions to challenges related to the implementation of the master plan, the statement added.
As planned, MPWT will cooperate with a Japanese technical consulting company to convene the first Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting for the project by the end of January.
