The upgrade of Cambodia’s National Road 7 (NR7) has now reached about 70% completion. The project officially began on January 9, 2023, covering 45 km with a total investment of USD 117 million. It was originally planned for completion in 2026.
Because Route 7 has had frequent traffic accidents, the Cambodian government decided to expand it into a four-lane highway to improve traffic capacity and road safety.
NR7 is strategically important for the northeastern provinces of Kratie, Stung Treng, Mondulkiri, and Ratanakiri. As part of the ASEAN Highway AH11, the upgraded road will strengthen connectivity to border areas and enhance economic cooperation with countries in the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS).
