Cambodia PPSHV Expressway Co. Ltd and Cambodia Bus Association (CAMBA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Ministry of Public Works and Transportation (MPWT) on Thursday.
The MoU, signed by Cambodia PPSHV Expressway’s Executive Director Mu Kun and CAMBA’s President Chim Chamnan, will provide cheaper tolls, lower the cost to repair vehicles on the road and increase travel on the expressway.
As the Minister of MPWT, Sun Chanthol has directed, facilitated and supported the private sectors to negotiate and reach agreements between them, Chamnan said.
The MoU comprises agreements on tolls, charges for broken buses on the road, and the special electronic toll collection (ETC) offer for CAMBA members. CAMBA will also discuss special offers for electronic vehicles (EVs), Chamnan said.
CAMBA members will get a 25 percent toll discount on 30-100 trips per day and a 30 percent discount on more than 100 trips per day, Chamnan said.
“Since opening to the public on October 1, 2022, the expressway has recorded a traffic volume of around 1.9 million trips. Cambodia PPSHV Expressway is looking forward to cooperating with CAMBA. As the first expressway in Cambodia, we promise to keep upgrading the quality of our services for customers and devote ourselves to the economic and social development of the Kingdom,” Kun said.
“The MPWT facilitates and supports the private companies to discuss and find the mutual benefits to agree on the win-win point and get to cooperate…now there is a special agreement for CAMBA and in the near future I hope there would be agreements for goods transportation. The private companies discuss prices and conditions for their benefit and reach an agreement,” Chanthol said.
“Cambodia PPSHV Expressway will offer an electronic toll collection (ETC) machine, which costs $20, for free to CAMBA members if they use 20 or more buses and deposit $100 in the bank. We look forward to welcoming more transportation companies to negotiate with us. We believe the number of road uses will increase as the MoU has been signed,” a representative of Cambodia PPSHV Expressway said.
