To combat flooding, more drainage systems are being installed in the capital from the smaller streets to main roads. Government officials announced that a new drainage system connecting to St. 271 will be completed soon.Sam Piseth, Director of the Department of Public Works and Transport of Phnom Penh, told local news this morning that in compliance of the order of Phnom Penh Governor Khuong Sreng, the department started the construction of a drainage system in Mor village and Sambour village, Dangkor district.
Piseth stated that the road from Boeung Ta Mart road is important in relieving traffic from Street 371 and Street 217. As of September 14, the construction has achieved some percentage of construction. Workers have already laid down the pipes for the drainage system and the construction of the road has reached 50 percent completionThe Director of the Department of Public Works confirmed that the drainage and construction of Boeung Ta Mart concrete road will make the area less prone to flooding.
