Minister of Public Works and Transport Sun Chanthol held a review of the feasibility study conducted to develop a subway or monorail option in Phnom Penh on Friday.
Minister Sun Chanthol said in the meeting with the officials concerned that the Government’s project aims to develop a public transport system that can effectively reduce traffic jam and accidents happening in the city.
According to the Ministry, the meeting discussed in detail a presentation submitted by a group of experts which explained a railway network project that can connect almost all locations of Phnom Penh, especially the areas with high population density.
The Minister urged the company to conduct more in-depth studies, including how to make Cambodia’s public transport development project more comprehensive in order to contribute and develop this sector to grow and solve traffic congestion.
