The construction of the highly anticipated bridge across the Bassac River, connecting Chak Angre Krom to Prek Pra, has achieved a major milestone, reaching 73% completion by the end of May 2026. According to the inspection team on 01 June 2026, led by HE Soung Heng, Secretary of State and Project Director, to monitor the progress of the site and witness the successful completion of transporting bridge beams from the west bank to the east bank. This vital infrastructure project has maintained steady momentum since its official groundbreaking ceremony on 19 February 2024. A detailed breakdown of the project showcases excellent engineering progress across all phases. Both the bridge foundation and the substructure have reached 100% completion, alongside the upper structure of the connecting bridge. Meanwhile, the upper structure of the main bridge is currently evaluated at 67.30% percent complete. Out of 49 segments planned for the right-hand box girder, 36 have been completed, while 30 segments out of 49 have been finalized for the left-hand box girder. For the surrounding road network, overall progress stands at 48.40%, with the 804.30m connecting road hitting the 50% mark and the 1.54m ramp road reaching 46% completion. The transportation of all 96 bridge beams from the west bank to the east bank is now complete, and workers are actively pouring concrete to secure the connecting joints. The employer team expressed high praise for the Shanghai Construction Group, noting that the completed and ongoing works strictly adhere to technical specifications and contract guidelines while delivering premium quality and aesthetic appeal. As the rainy season begins and river water levels start to rise, the project management unit is prioritizing workplace safety by reinforcing safety protocols and deploying additional safety buoys on the water to protect waterway commuters.
