Cambodia’s Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport H.E. Sun Chanthol held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Ms. Kim Hyun Mee, Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport of the Republic of Korea (ROK), in Seoul, ROK yesterday, on the sidelines of the 1st ASEAN-ROK Infrastructure Ministers’ Meeting.
According to news release of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, both sides discussed methods to better collaborate with each other to improve Cambodia’s infrastructure through infrastructure technology.
H.E. Senior Minister briefed H.E. Ms. Kim Hyun Mee on current and future projects involving Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) which include the improvement of national roads, wastewater treatment plants in Siem Reap province and Takhmao town of Kandal province, the establishment of the Research Centre and Institute for Laboratories and Training, and the Master Plan for Port Development, and requested support from the ROK government through his Korean counterpart for these projects.
H.E. Senior Minister took the chance to thank the ROK government for its extensive infrastructure development assistance and looked forward to future cooperation between the two countries.
For her part, H.E. Ms. Kim Hyun Mee affirmed the willingness of the ROK government to assist Cambodia on Systematic Infrastructure Development such as national infrastructure technology and ground information, technology support, and research and exchange software (that is accessible to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia), as well as the establishment of an Infra Technology Centre in Cambodia.
