Construction of the third wastewater treatment project in Preah Sihanouk has achieved 44 percent of the total construction plan.
Kouch Chamroeun, Governor of Preah Sihanouk, told local news on June 28 that the wastewater treatment plant is located in Sangkat 4, Preah Sihanouk. The plant, as of June 28, is 44 percent completed and is scheduled to be completed in 2023.
The third wastewater treatment plant, located at O’Poy Chheuteal, has a capacity of treating 20,000 cubic metres of water daily. Construction of the plant started after the first and second treatment plant was put into operation. The treatment plants will filter and treat water before it is dumped into the sea.The city’s wastewater was previously discharged into coastal areas through canals and natural streams, but now much of it flows into the basin at a 16-hectare land.The project was developed by the National Committee for Coastal Management and Development of Cambodia.
