Preah Sihanouk Provincial Authorities inspected the construction of the province’s third wastewater treatment plant, constructed to treat wastewater before it is dumped into the sea, and reported that it is around 50 percent completed.
The inspection was conducted on June 2 and led by Kouch Chamroeun, Governor of Preah Sihanouk. The wastewater treatment plant is located in Sangkat 4, Sihanoukville City.
Seng Vibol, Construction Director of X-Water Technology Co., Ltd, said that about 50 percent of the construction site of the third wastewater treatment plant has been completed so far, and the treated water is dumped into the sea, which is beneficial to protect the marine environment. Previously, untreated wastewater dumped into the sea had damaged the marine environment.
The third treatment plant has the capacity to treat 20,000 cubic metres of water. The treatment plant is built on a one-hectare plot of land.
Vibol added that the construction site is divided into two phases: The field construction can be completed before the upcoming Khmer New Year 2023. Second is the test of the technical system.
During the inspection of the construction work of the third wastewater treatment plant, Governor Chamroeun praised the technical team for their hard work in the construction site, despite the rain.
