The Minister of Public Works and Transport has registered 148 electric vehicles since its introduction.
Minister Sun Chanthol said on Friday from January till this month the ministry registered 84 electric vehicles, meaning that they become popular among the people.
He added to facilitate the use of electric vehicles, the Ministry has cooperated with UNDP to install two charging stations–one at the Ministry of Public Works and another in Preah Sihanouk province. The ministry is also preparing to install charging stations in Battambang and Siem Reap provinces.
He added that the Ministry of Public Works has also cooperated with the private sector to install more charging stations.
He said that PTT plans to set up two charging stations on the highway from Phnom Penh to Sihanoukville, while officials are studying the installation of more stations.
Chanthol also said the ministry is cooperating with UNDP to prepare a master plan to set up charging stations across the country to facilitate the use of electric vehicles.
