The launch of the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway, which was scheduled for July, is postponed and moved to later this year.This is according to the Senior Minister Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport. He announced that the expressway will be moved from July to September. The Senior Minister urged the road construction companies to work hard to make it on time to launch in September.Kong Vimean, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, stated that one of the reasons of the postponement is the weather. Heavy rains were an obstacle for the construction team. The second reason is that the construction team needs a time off.Vimean, however, confirmed that so far, construction of the expressway is more than 90 percent completed. The team is preparing to build the road safety fence. Along with the planned launch of the expressway, Vimean called on people to be very careful and respect the traffic rules when driving. The expressway, measuring 187.05-kilometre, is constructed with a budget of approximately $2.01 billion. This road connects Village 1, Sangkat Samrong Krom, Khan Por Senchey, Phnom Penh to Village 1, Sangkat 3, Sihanoukville, Preah Sihanouk.
