Bilateral Meeting on the Technical Cooperation on Sewerage Works Between Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan

On 24th February, 2017, the Sewerage Management and Construction Department (SMCD) organized a “Bilateral Meeting on the Technical Cooperation on Sewerage Works” between the Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia (MPWT) and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan (MLIT). The meeting was chaired by H.E. Tauch Chankosal, Secretary of State, MPWT.

H.E. Tauch Chankosal pointed out the critical role wastewater treatment system play in our citizens daily lives and wellbeing. After establishing the management and operational structure of SMCD, new sewage system and treatment plant construction will take place is part of the Royal Government’s strategy to accelerate positive growth in the Cambodian people’s health and well being.

Speakers from the Phnom Penh Department of Public Works and Transport, MLIT and Kitakyushu City in Japan, focused on the methods of wastewater treatment including the Conventional Activated Sludge Process (CASP) and Pretreated Trickling Filter (PTF) Systems.
