Meeting with a Japanese Delegation

On February 17, 2017 at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, H.E. Sun Chanthol met with a Japanese delegation led by H.E. Iwai Shigeki, Member of the House of Counselors of Japan, and was accompanied by H.E. Hidehisa Horinouchi, Ambassador of Japan in Cambodia.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss accelerating the study and implementation of the expressway between Phnom Penh and Bavet, the development of a container terminal in the Sihanoukville Port, the implementation of the AGT project in Phnom Penh, the improvement of public bus management and operation, and the improvement of the sewage treatment system in Cambodia.

H.E. Shigeki expressed Japan’s strong support and commitment to contribute to the further development of Cambodia as well as improve and strengthen the relationship between the two countries.

The Senior Minister expressed his country’s gratitude for the continued support and cooperation between the two countries. He also sought support from H.E. Shigeki in assisting in the formulation of the country’s Logistics Master Plan, and the introduction of a port EDI system, which will help facilitate formality procedures and waterway transport within the country.
