Pilot Project for Port Statistics assisted by JICA was completed.

------ The Project for Establishment of National Port Policy and Administration System

The Project for Establishment of National Port Policy and Administration System in Cambodia has been implemented under the agreement between the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and the Japan International Cooperation Agency in 2008, and a JICA expert team has been assigned to collaborate with the taskforce team organized by the MPWT since March 2009. The goals of the Project are to contribute to capacity development for Cambodian officials in planning the national port policy and administration system, to propose the draft national port policy, to develop the framework on collection of port statistics, and to prepare a draft of port law and related regulations including a road map for enactment.

In order to establish an integrated statistics system providing reliable, consistent and up-to-date information, a statistics survey at four target ports was carried out as Pilot Project for Port Statistics. The outline of the pilot project is as follows:

Summary of the result

Through the pilot project, various kinds of data on port activities were collected and compiled as port statistics data of the target ports over a period of six month.
