DIRECTORATE OF PUBLIC WORKE

The Directorate of Public Works is in charge of the orientation, advice, follow up and control of the construction, repairing and maintenance of the road, bridge infrastructure.

The Directorate of Public Works is lead by a Director General who is assisted by Deputy – Director General.

There are five departments in the Directorate of Public Works :

DEPARTMENT OF Roads

The Department of Roads is in charge :

Realize, maintain, manage and fix the exploitation regulations on road infrastructure as roads, paths, bridges or tunnels, ferry, barges and municipal roads.

For this mission, the Department of Road has two functions :

a.  Elaborate the maintenance program and manage the roads and bridges :

  • Collect the data and use the essential data to understand the road network.

  • Manage the technical documents of road use and bridges or tunnels, and all the information concerning the road network.

  • Elaborate the budget, share the means, do the follow up and control all the maintenance works.

  • Manage the public properties, roads, waterways and railways.

b. Manage the site construction of roads and bridges :

  • Study, manage and elaborate the maintenance program of roads and bridges.

  • Elaborate the budget, share the means, do the follow up and control.

  • Evaluate the realized site construction.

  • Manage the ferry, barges.

HEAVY EQUIPMENT CENTER

The Heavy Equipment Center is in charge :

  • Study, research, elaborate the project and realize the new constructions.

  • Manage and control the equipments and mechanical vehicles under the Heavy Equipment Center.

  • Study and organize training on mechanical vehicles for the personnel.

 

PUBLIC WORK RESEARCH CENTER

The Public Works Research Center is in charge :

  • Elaborate the technical standards and the preparation for the execution.

  • Study, research, and prepare the project of public constructions.

  • Value the construction, quality of material, and new technology for the execution of the Ministry works.

DEPARTMENT OF WATER WAYS

The Department of Waterways is in charge :

  • Study and execute the works concerning the waterways, the navigation on the natural waterways.

  • Make the plane, the map of the rivers, ways and channels.

  • Realize the signs and buoys for the navigation in the river

  • Take all measures against which bothers the navigation and water movement.

  • Circulate the news to the sailors concerning the obstacles, which newly appear.

  • Prepare the acceptable location for the rafts, floating houses.

  • Examine the construction requests in the rivers, under the rivers, in the air crossing the river.

  • Study, research on the works and protect the bank subsidence.

  • Propose measures and dredge the river to have a good depth to serve the transport.

  • Build the local ports by co-operating with the local authority.

  • Manage the land of the river hold.

  • Examine the requests to pump the water from the river and to flow the water in the river that can destroy the water depth.

  • Create the duty and the regulation on the transport vehicles which use the navigation ways.

  • Register the water level of all the rivers in the country for the water navigation.

DEPARTMENT OF AIR INFRASTRUCTURE

The Department of Air Infrastructure is in charge of cooperating with the Secretariat of Civil Aviation for the construction of airports :

  • Study, control and monitor all the airport construction project in the country, included the construction done by the government and the construction done by the private sector for the government interest like BOT.

  • Study, choose, control all the airport construction sites.

  • Prepare, elaborate and maintain the technical standards concerning the airport construction.
